Referral disclosure: how DataLicensingAudit.com is paid

Updated

DataLicensingAudit.com is an independent referral partner of Mode. We may earn a fee if your company is accepted. Estimates are illustrative, not offers.

This page explains what that means, what Mode has published about its referral fees, and what we suggest you ask before you sign anything.

Who we are paid by

We are an independent referral partner of Mode Inc. for BizBuyData.com, Mode's company data-licensing program. If you ask us to introduce your company and you tick the consent box on our form, we share your details with Mode. If Mode accepts your company and the licensing transaction completes, Mode may pay us a referral fee.

We are not owned by Mode and are not affiliated with it beyond this referral relationship. You do not pay us anything.

DataLicensingAudit.com is not a CPA firm and does not perform attest or financial audits; "audit" refers to an informal data-readiness review.

Mode is currently our only referral relationship. If that changes, we will update this page.

What Mode has published about referral fees

Mode's referral page (checked October 29, 2026) advertises "$50,000+" per accepted company; earlier that day it described the greater of $50,000 or 6% for a US referrer's first five qualified deals and 6% outside the US. Final terms are set in Mode's affiliate agreement.

Mode's October 13, 2026 press release says qualifying referrers can earn the greater of $50,000 or 6% of a participating organization's payment once the licensing transaction is complete. Mode sets and can change these terms. Either way, we may earn a fee only if your company is accepted.

Does the referral fee affect your offer?

Mode's program FAQ on BizBuyData.com says Mode buys the agreed copy of your data directly and charges no broker fee. We do not know whether Mode's referral costs affect the offers it makes. Ask Mode directly before you accept an offer, and get the answer in writing if it matters to you.

How this affects what we publish

A referral fee gives us a financial interest in companies applying to Mode's program. We try to counter that in a few ways:

  • Every payout figure, threshold and timeline we publish is attributed to its source and linked.
  • Our guides include the risks, such as confidentiality duties, employee consent and contract terms, not only the potential payment.
  • Our calculator is illustrative. It uses figures Mode has published, the method is on our methodology page, and it is not an offer from anyone.
  • We do not publish testimonials, client names or results we cannot source.

You can read more about our standards on our about page.

Why we tell you this

The US Federal Trade Commission expects material connections between a business and the people recommending it to be disclosed clearly. Its Endorsement Guides FAQ explains that guidance. A short version of the disclosure above appears on every page of this site.
