Terms of use

Updated

These terms cover your use of DataLicensingAudit.com. In short: the site is information only, our estimates are illustrative and not offers, Mode makes every decision about any deal, and you use the site at your own risk. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

Information only, not professional advice

Our guides explain Mode's BizBuyData program and the issues around licensing operational data. They are general information. They are not legal, tax or financial advice, and reading them does not create a lawyer-client, accountant-client or advisory relationship with us. DataLicensingAudit.com is not a CPA firm and does not perform attest or financial audits; "audit" refers to an informal data-readiness review.

Licensing your company's data can raise confidentiality, privacy, employment, tax and contract questions that depend on your facts. Talk to your own lawyer, accountant or other adviser before you make a decision or sign anything.

Estimates are illustrative

The calculator produces a rough, rules-based estimate from figures Mode has published. Our methodology page explains how it works. An estimate is not an offer, a quote or a valuation. It is not a guarantee that your company will be accepted, that you will receive an offer, or that you will be paid any amount.

Mode makes all decisions

We are an independent referral partner of Mode, as explained on our disclosure page. We do not make offers, approve applications or pay companies. Mode alone decides whether your company qualifies, what it offers and on what terms. Mode's own agreements and terms govern any deal you make with Mode. Read them carefully and have them reviewed before you sign.

Third-party information can change

Much of what we publish describes third parties: Mode's published program details, news reports, court proceedings and professional rules. That information can change after we check it. We date our pages and note when we viewed sources, but we cannot promise that every detail is current. Confirm anything important directly with the source.

We link to third-party websites, including Mode, news publishers and government sites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, policies or practices. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you visit them.

Acceptable use

When you use the site, you agree not to:

  • scrape, crawl or access the site in a way that harms its performance or availability, or tries to get around its security,
  • submit false, misleading or someone else's information through our forms, or
  • use the site for anything unlawful.

The site is provided "as is"

We work to keep the site accurate and available, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". We do not promise it will be error-free, complete, current or uninterrupted.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using or relying on the site, its guides or its estimates, including any decision you make about licensing your data, any dealings you have with Mode, or the content of any third-party site we link to. Some places do not allow certain limits on liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Privacy

Our privacy policy explains what we collect and how we use it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the "updated" date on this page. If you keep using the site after an update, the updated terms apply.
